  3. Dry skin

  1. Oily skin

If you are one of them who has oily skin type, you can notice that your face is shiny and appears greasy later on in the day. Your makeup doesn’t stay on your face, it seems to slide off. Pores on the face are visible enlarged, especially on your nose, chin, and forehead. You may have blackheads and pimples on the oilier areas of your face.

Oily skin is mainly due to hormonal changes, climate, genetics, and large pores.

For taking care of your oily skin, you should avoid ingredients like mineral oil, petrolatum, and alcohol. You need to use oil-free moisturizers that work best for your oily skin. Drink enough water because staying hydrated will prevent your skin from producing excess oil. Don’t over-wash your face, overwashing can remove necessary oils from your skin, and drying out your pores can cause them to produce more oil.

  1. Normal/Combination skin:

If you have a normal/combination skin, you feel oily in the T-zone (the area that includes the forehead, nose, and chin) but feel dry everywhere else. A combination-skin type results in two or more different textures on your face.

Combination skin is mainly due to genetics, climate, and sometimes the product that you use.

You are recommended to use a gentle cleanser to avoid clogging your pores in your T-zone area. You should choose an oil-free sunscreen. Gently scrub your T-zone area at the time of exfoliation, you need to keep balance when you exfoliate. In addition to this, you have to maintain two separate skincare routines that mean don’t use the same products for your T-zone and the rest of your face.

  1. Dry skin:

If you have dry skin, you feel skin tightness after showering or bathing. Your skin feels and looks rough and also you feel itching. You feel slight to severe flaking and scaling. Your face may have fine lines or cracks, deep cracks that may bleed. Redness appears on your face.

The reasons for your dry skin are genetics, age, long showers, and season.

Drink enough water because dehydration is also a leading cause of dry skin. It is recommended that moisturize your skin daily to keep it soft and hydrated. However, you don’t have to spend too much time in the shower. To retain your skin’s moisture, it is suggested to use a humidifier. Also, you need to use sunscreen to prevent your skin from getting dehydrated.

From the above signs, you can identify where your skin fits, and accordingly, you can use products and take care of your skin. Knowing your skin type leads you to understand your skin’s specific needs. There are also other ways to determine your skin type at home includes the bare-faced method and the blotting sheet method.
